Pre-match interviews of Mourinho and Bruce:
David Luiz and Victor Moses have been ruled out of the game, while Juan Mata remains a major doubt. Given the strength of the squad, I expect Chelsea to cope without them. The likes of Marco van Ginkel, Kevin De Bruyne, and Andre Schurrle could all make their debuts. Mourinho has all three strikers – Demba Ba, Romelu Lukaku, and Fernando Torres – fit for the match. It is going to be a fight between Torres and Lukaku for the starting position.
Apart from Danny Graham, Bruce is expected to field most of his new signings like Huddlestone. Midfielder Stephen Quinn is a doubt for Hull, but aside from that, they have a fully fit squad.
Chelsea (4-2-3-1): Cech; Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry, Cole; Van Ginkel, Lampard; Kevin De Bruyne, Oscar, Hazard; Torres
Hull (3-5-2): McGregor; McShane, Davies, Figeuroa; Elmohamady, Huddlestone, Meyler, Koren, Brady; Aluko, Sagbo
- The last time Chelsea faced Hull City on the opening day, we won the league ( 2009-10 season)
- Chelsea have scored the most number of goals (43) on the opening weekend of the Premier League
- If he plays, Frank Lampard will set a new record for playing in the most number of opening games (18)
A comfortable 3-0 win for Chelsea. It is certainly not going to be an easy match, but the quality of Chelsea’s disposal mean that we could come out as comfortable winners.
