Liverpool vs Chelsea 2014: Match Preview & Betting Tips

Chelsea’s feint title hopes take them to Anfield, with the Blues in desperate need of a win if they have any chance of overhauling Liverpool.

After Sunderland ended Jose Mourinho’s amazing 77 game unbeaten Premier League home record, Chelsea find themselves five points behind Liverpool with just three matches remaining.

Mourinho is expected to heavily rotate his squad, with one eye on their Champions League semi-final with Atletico Madrid.

A 0-0 draw at the Vicente Del Calderon means Chelsea have an excellent chance of reaching the Champions League final.

Early Team News:

Mourinho appears ready to risk their slim Premier League hopes to reach the final in Lisbon, with numerous “weakened” sides being predicted.

Having played for Benfica and FC Basel earlier in the Champions League,  Nemanja Matic and Mohammed Salah are unavailable for the second leg. They are expected to return to the starting line-up for the trip to Anfield, whilst John Obi Mikel and Frank Lampard are expected to feature, as they are suspended for the Champions League second leg.

As for Liverpool, the former Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge is expected to be fit, although they will be without Jordan Henderson who is suspended.

Betting

Liverpool’s odds have dramatically shortened with the news Chelsea may heavily rotate their side, with the title favourites as long as 7/10!

As for Chelsea, they are as long as they’ve been all season, with Paddy Power offering just short of 5/1 on win for the Blues!

Predictions

Whilst understandably, Liverpool go into the match as massive favourites, there is value in backing Chelsea to get a result.

Chelsea double chance is as long as 6/4, meaning a Blues draw or a win would be good for us!

Whilst a draw would end Chelsea’s title hopes, it’s hard to see an away win at Anfield for the first time since 2010.
