Chelsea star Eden Hazard has claimed that he has begun negotiations over a new contract, which should finally bring an end to the transfer rumours linking him with Paris St Germain.
Hazard has become one of the most sought-after players in the world after to impressive campaigns with Chelsea. The 23-year-old became a Chelsea for fee of £32 million, but his value in the transfer market now is reported to be around £75 million. Chelsea, though, do not seem interested in selling him just yet. The player still has three years left on his contract, but recently, there has been talk of a new deal on the table.
The Belgian international confirmed that contract negotiations are going on. He said: “I am staying at Chelsea, 100 percent sure.
“Of course in football you never know, but I am under contract with Chelsea and I want to stay there.
“And I am in discussions with Chelsea for a new contract. It is only the beginning of the talks right now, but we have got time.
“But the fact that Chelsea have offered me a new deal means that they have got a lot of confidence in me, that I can do a good job, and that they can count on me.”
Chelsea are expected to offer around £200,000 per week, which would represent a substantial improvement on his current £150,000 per week contract.
Signing this new contract will also dismiss the notion that Hazard does not get along well with Jose Mourinho. The pair were involved in a war of words towards the end of last season. In the last two seasons, Hazard has been the best player at Chelsea by a considerable margin. He has 30 goals in 110 appearances for Chelsea in the last two years and this figure does not include the numerous assists.
