Official: PSG No Longer Interested in Signing Eden Hazard

PSG have officially ended their attempts to sign Chelsea star Eden Hazard after their manager Laurent Blanc admitted that the Belgian is unlikely to move away from Stamford Bridge.

It was revealed a few weeks ago that Eden Hazard was about to be offered a new £200,000 a week contract. This is set to be a major reason in PSG conceding defeat in their attempt to sign the player. Hazard has long been a transfer target for PSG and the interest has only grown after a brilliant season. Blanc said:

“Hazard is a top player, but I think Chelsea want to keep him. A lot of players are going to be mentioned, but we have already got our priority, David Luiz.

“Some players will ask to leave, we’ll have to see. For the moment, that’s not the case. We’re going to bring in some players, one or two, of great quality.

“We’re going to wait a bit before making any more signings. Be patient.”

Regarded as someone who can reach the level of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, Hazard is very important to this Chelsea team. His importance is underlined by the fact that Chelsea are prepared to open contract negotiations, despite the player still having three years left on his current deal. Hazard is one of the high earners at the club due to his £150,000 per week contract.

PSG only recently signed David Luiz in a £50 million deal. They were reportedly ready to pay more than £75 million for Hazard.

Just as with the Belgian national team, Hazard will wear the Chelsea’s No.10 shirt for the new campaign.
