Romelu Lukaku has claimed that he will make a decision on his Chelsea future after the end of his holidays.
The summer promises to be an interesting one for Lukaku after his poor performance at the World Cup 2014. Prior to the tournament, the Belgian international was spoken of as a potential transfer target for several top clubs like Juventus.
Just one goal and several poor performances may have hurt his chances of securing a big-money move, but the 21-year-old is not ready to reveal his decision just yet. He said:
“I want to go on holiday first and rest with my parents and then we will see.
“I want to be somewhere where I can play my best football and hopefully win titles. It’s up to me to work hard but there are choices to make. Things like that happen in football and I’m confident I will make the right choice.”
Lukaku’s best gaming the World Cup came in extra time against the United States. He scored the goal that helped Belgium reached the quarter-finals, but apart from that, he was anonymous throughout their campaign.
Due to the injury to Christian Benteke, Lukaku started the World Cup as the number one striker for Belgium. He was so poor in the first two matches against Algeria and Russia that he was substituted before the hour mark. His good performance against United States has to be taken with a pinch of salt since it came against a tired defence that is not one the best in the world. He continued:
“I’m looking at everything but first of all I want to go on holiday and relax a little bit. I’m 21 but I think I’m experienced enough now. I’ve played a lot of games and scored a lot of goals and now I want to win titles and become one of the best.
“I have a few ideas but we’ll see. I have to have discussions first and have to think about it. I want to go home and then I will decide. It will be soon.”
After the arrival of Diego Costa, Lukaku is likely to be the third choice at Chelsea. He is almost certain not to accept this role and this may see him leave the blues this summer.
