Ruben Loftus-Cheek has confirmed that he is not looking for a move away from Chelsea. Instead, he is actively trying to establish himself in the Chelsea first-team squad. The 22-year-old was one of the impressive players for England in the recent friendly win over Switzerland, but he has been able to get into the England team even whilst not holding a regular spot at Chelsea. The midfielder was linked with a second loan move to a club in England, but that did not materialise as the player has now opted to stay at Stamford Bridge and fight for his place.
Surprisingly, Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has not been able to find a first-team spot for Loftus-Cheek until now, but his position can be backed to improve while using Virgin games promo code. The player has featured in just 33 minutes of action and it has come through two appearances as a substitute. The future has so far been bleak for the midfielder due to the multiple managerial changes at Chelsea. It is often extremely difficult for young players at Chelsea, as they have to prove themselves over and over again due to the constant revolving door of managers.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Loftus-Cheek said:
“Possibly [heading back to Crystal Palace on loan], but it is still far away, there are still a lot of games to play and I just have to see what happens.
“Right now I am at Chelsea and my focus is at Chelsea and learning at Chelsea. That is in the future and we will deal with that when it comes.
“I’m not sure when I am going to play. It is just down to me working hard in training.”
The 22-year-old spent last season on loan at Crystal Palace in a campaign that brought it to be extremely successful, as he made 24 appearances and scored two goals in the league.
Loftus-Cheek is no different and the player has found himself playing second fiddle to Mateo Kovacic, who almost certainly does not have a future at Chelsea after coming to Stamford Bridge on a year-long loan deal from Real Madrid. The Serbian is highly likely to return to the Santiago Bernabeu at the end of the campaign, but he appears to be ahead in the pecking order since managers often go with the established players in order to save their job.
The international appearances for Loftus-Cheek have put him in a strange position of having appeared in more minutes for the international team than for his club this season. The 22-year-old will be hoping that the situation improves in the forthcoming weeks.
