Willian Targets Five More Years with Chelsea

Willian has once again opened up on rumours regarding his potential exit from Chelsea by claiming that he wants to stay with the blues at least for the next five years. It is a serious statement of commitment from the Brazilian winger, who has been linked with the likes of Manchester United and Barcelona during the summer. Willian’s primary grouse appears to have been with Antonio Conte, as he has now made a complete U-turn to consider staying at the Bridge for the long term.

Maurizio Sarri regards the 30-year-old as a key member of the squad. The trio of Eden Hazard, Willian, and Pedro form the crux of the attack. Since Willian is very similar to Eden Hazard in terms of dropping deep to see the ball and run at the opposition, Sarri will see the presence of the Brazilian as a key factor behind keeping Hazard fresh and ready for every game. It gives him the opportunity to rotate between the wingers so as to keep the performance of the team at its peak and get the best odds at Matchbook bonus code.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Willian said:

“I know I have two years of my contract left but I hope to stay more years in the Premier League.

“I am very happy to be here five years. I have won titles and played a lot of games with a lot of happy moments, and a few sad moments as well but that is part of football. These five years have been very good for me and I am proud to be a Chelsea player.”

Since moving to Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2013 for a fee of around £30 million, Willian has been a key member of the Chelsea squad. He has made close to 250 appearances for the club while coming up with almost 50 goals. After having previously won honours with Shakhtar Donetsk, Willian has been going through his most successful time as a footballer after lifting the Premier League twice and FA Cup once. He has already been crowned as the Chelsea Players’ Player of the Year on two occasions and it is highly reflective of the squad’s opinion of his contribution.

After having been integral in the successes achieved by Chelsea over the last five years, Willian is targeting more honours going forward. Chelsea are targeting a fifth consecutive league victory at the start of the campaign as they take on Cardiff City this weekend.
