Manchester United have confirmed that they have rejected a new offer from Chelsea for Wayne Rooney. Chelsea’s new bid is believed to be in the region of £30 million. Chelsea manager José Mourinho has made it clear that Rooney is the number-one transfer target for the club this season. Chelsea’s initial offer of around £20 million was made a month ago.
“A bid was received yesterday (Sunday) and immediately rejected. Our position remains that he is not for sale.” – A Manchester United spokesperson to Sky Sports
Rooney placed himself on the transfer list at the end of last season. United have been consistently saying that he is not for sale, but it has been believed that an offer of £40 million will be enough to bring him to Stamford Bridge.
Manchester United manager David Moyes hinted that Rooney would be the second choice to Robin van Persie this season.
“Overall, my thought on Wayne is, if for any reasons we had an injury to Robin van Persie, we’ll need him.” – Moyes at the start of July
Mourinho has said that he is a huge fan of Rooney. Chelsea may meet Rooney’s valuation, but United may not want to sell him to one of their important domestic rivals.
Rooney has not made any public comments about his future.
I will be happy if Spacial One can bring Rooney to CHELSEA
WE don’t need Rooney we have Lukaku give the guy a chance he will be a monster that no other team will want play against . If we take Rooney it will be with baggage and detrimental to players like lukakau we need to be played to get the best out of them.
use Torres and Lukakau they both are playing well lately.
IS GOING TO BE GREAT IF CHELSEA CAN BRING THE GIANT OF DEVIL TO STAMFORD STADIUM BCOS…….
This is d right time 4 chelsea to turn their attention to some other strikers. Suarez or Burak.. D money is not the problem. If Rooney wld gulp £40 @ his age, why not go 4 Suares(£50).
i will be glad if God father can bring Rooney to chelsea this season.
I luv roony, but let give lukaku some chance
