Chelsea have managed to tie up young star Bertrand Traore on a four-and-a-half year contract. The 18-year-old is regarded as someone with a great future after managing to impress during pre-season. He was part of the Chelsea teams that played against the Asian teams during the tour of Asia.
Chelsea were keen to offer him a professional contract in the summer, but he would not have been able to sign one as he was only 17 during the pre-season tour. Traore plays for Burkina Faso at international level. Burkina Faso have a World Cup qualifier against Algeria next month. Traore will be hoping to be involved for that match.
This is what Gary Cahill had to say about Traore in the summer:
“It’s too early to say he’s ready to do this and that, and we don’t want to get carried away, but he’s certainly not looked out of place in training alongside some top international players.
“He’s slotted in nicely. He’s a young lad, but I’m sure he’s got a bright future at Chelsea.”
