Jose Mourinho has confirmed that he will make changes to the team that takes on Schalke in the fourth group match of the Champions League 2013/14. Chelsea suffered the first loss since the middle of September after the 2-0 defeat against Newcastle. Chelsea last defeat was against FC Basel and this was the poorest the team played since then. Mourinho said after the match that he made 11 mistakes referring to the team selection.
Speaking to the official site, he says that several changes could be on the way for the Schalke match.
“I will make changes. Not 11 changes because that would be too much, but changes for sure.
“I know basically which is my best team but it depends on the way we perform because performances and results push you for decisions.
“We are in a stable position to qualify in the Champions League but if we lose again, we are in a difficult position so Wednesday is an important game for us.”
There did not appear to be much mistakes in the team selection. It was a combination of factors that led to the defeat. The selection of three small attacking playmakers to play against a physical team meant that there was no forward thrust. Much of Chelsea’s play was restricted to short passes outside the final third and it was never going to hurt Newcastle.
After a great performance against Arsenal, Mata is likely to be the player sacrificed. Oscar was also a little out of sorts, while Frank Lampard looks in need of a breather.
Demba Ba, Mikel, and Willian could be the players to benefit from the changes.
What do you think will be Mourinho’s changes?
Lampard must go to save our dear club
Super Franky should be used mostly as a sub, give young players the chance to prove a point!!!
Mikel in place of lamp, william in place of oscar,& cahil in place of david, dat is all dat is needed in any away match.
is better but oscar is still manageable.
