Chelsea became the only English club to avoid defeat in the first leg of the Champions league last 16 stage this season after we came away from Istanbul with a 1-1 draw. After dominating the first 30 minutes of the match, Chelsea were put under enormous pressure by Galatasaray at the Turk Telecom Arena.
Match Highlights:
We had several opportunities on the counter-attack, but lack of clinical finishing was once again the sore point. Torres had given us the lead after just nine minutes following a swift counter-attack.
Chelsea were made to pay for the lack of decisiveness in attack after Chedjou equalised in the second half from a corner.
John Terry and Petr Cech were at fault for the equaliser, but this was still a good result for us away from home.
Jose Mourinho’s reaction:
Didier Drogba, who was coming up against Chelsea for the first time since leaving in 2012, was a constant thorn against the defence of Terry and Cahill.
The away goal could prove crucial in the second leg at Stamford Bridge on March 18.
