Jose Mourinho says that the league table is lying right now since title contenders Manchester City, Arsenal, and Liverpool all have games in hand over the blues. Chelsea are on top of the table with a nine-point advantage over Manchester City. However, Mourinho has been maintaining throughout this season that City remain as the title favourites. Even with the significant advantage, he is refusing to budge from this opinion.
Speaking ahead of the Aston Villa match on Saturday, he said:
“I keep saying the same, the table is fake. If you have just the number of points, the table is fake. Before the number of points is the number of matches.
“We could have 30 points more than them and [have played] 10 matches more. It means nothing. When everybody has the same number of matches, I don’t know when this is going to happen, maybe in the last week of the competition. Only in that moment is when the table is real.”
