Paris St Germain have officially confirmed their interest in Chelsea star Eden Hazard. PSG manager Laurent Blanc stated that he would like to have the Belgian international in his team.
PSG have had an interest in Hazard, Oscar, and David Luiz for several months now. They appear to have won the race for David Luiz, as the Brazilian defender is reportedly on the verge of a £50 million move to Paris.
Despite being found guilty of breaching UEFA’s FFP regulations, PSG appear set to offer even more money for Hazard. Blanc said:
“Why do I love Eden Hazard? Because he is a player who eliminates. We can discuss all of the systems, or a player’s individual or collective qualities.
“But a player who can eliminate three or four players any time in a game is something else. We don’t know what to expect with these players. They destabilise the opponent.
“A plan B if he doesn’t come? Of course. There is also a plan C.”
The future of Hazard has been of some concern since the Champions League exit at the hands of Atletico Madrid. Jose Mourinho was involved in a war of words, which is unlike him, with the player. Known for his ability to form a great bonds with players, it was surprising to see Mourinho publicly criticise Hazard and lay the blame for the Champions League exit on his shoulders.
The 23-year-old won the club’s Player of the Season and the PFA Young Player of the Year award last season after scoring 17 goals.
Mourinho said during the last campaign that Hazard was worth more than £100 million. If there is anything to stop PSG from making this offer, it is UEFA’s FFP regulations. After having reportedly sealed a £50 million move for Luiz, PSG’s further transfer dealings will be scrutinised heavily by Michel Platini and UEFA.
