Oscar has admitted that Paris St Germain tried to sign him a few weeks ago, but the interest did not materialise into a serious offer. He also plans to stay at Chelsea for the upcoming season.
Brazilian midfielder Oscar has had an up-and-down time at Chelsea. Even last season, he was regular first-team star in the first half of the season. Yet, we got to see very little of him in the second half, as tiredness was given a reason.
Despite the poor second-half, Oscar was heavily linked with PSG in the month of May. The 21-year-old also spoke about the interest back then. Now, he has confirmed that he held talks with PSG. He said: “I’ve had contact with Paris Saint-Germain, it is true, but things have not progressed beyond that.
“The next season I will stay at Chelsea.”
This stunning revelation shows that tapping up is quite common in football and that contracts mean nothing.
PSG only recently signed David Luiz from Chelsea for a record fee of £48 million. It is not known whether the French outfit decided to sign Luiz after the failure to get Oscar.
The £25 million signing has the potential to become a great all-round midfielder. At World Cup 2014, though, he has struggled with consistency issues. After starting the tournament goals, tackles, and assists against Croatia, he has been subdued in the last two matches against Mexico and Cameroon.
