Chelsea welcome Everton to Stamford Bridge in the Premier League on Monday evening and will fancy their chances of a win. Chelsea have been in fine form on home soil while Everton only recently ended a nine-game winless run.
Chelsea could go only one point behind 8th-placed West Ham United with a win. They’ll have two games in hand too. Everton could go five points clear of 15th if they manage a rare victory at the Bridge. It’s been 30 years since Chelsea lost at home to Everton in the league, so it’s a one-sided fixture.
Chelsea in form and strong at home
Chelsea are 9th with 44 points from 30 games, coming off the back of a 4-3 win over Manchester United. The Blues have been strong on home soil, losing just once since October, so Everton are in for a difficult evening. Chelsea have six wins and two draws from their last nine at home, plus being 30-years unbeaten in this fixture.
Chelsea lost at home to Everton in 1994 but boast 17 wins and 13 draws from the 30 games since. Mauricio Pochettino’s men haven’t been consistent this season, but they have been formidable in their own backyard. Everton haven’t managed to build up a run of steam, however, and look in freefall right now.
Everton in bad shape and woeful on their travels
Sean Dyche’s men are 14th in the table with 35 points from 31 games, boasting a 1-0 win over Burnley. Everton went three months without a win in any competition prior to that, however, so miracles won’t be expected. The Toffees have been even worse on their travels, with no away win in 2024.
Everton’s last win on the road came in December’s 2-0 victory at Burnley. Since then, the Merseysiders have lost five and drawn three. They beat Chelsea in the reserve fixture, but Monday’s game could go the way of the hosts.
