Chelsea welcome Bournemouth to Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon – their final game of the Premier League season. They’re in fantastic form of late and may have revenge on their mind after drawing in the reverse fixture.
Chelsea are big favourites to come out on top and could finish level on points with 5th– placed Tottenham Hotspur with a win. Bournemouth have consolidated in the bottom-half, so they have little other than pride to play for.
Chelsea in fine form
Mauricio Pochettino’s men are 6th in the league with 60 points from 37 games this season. Chelsea are coming off the back of four consecutive wins, beating Tottenham, West Ham United, Nottingham Forest and Brighton & Hove Albion. Chelsea are ending the campaign in fine form but will have revenge on their mind after dropping points to Bournemouth previously.
The Blues were held to a goalless draw away to the Cherries in September, so they’ll want to get a result in front of their supporters. Chelsea have been solid at Stamford Bridge, boasting four consecutive wins in their own backyard. Pochettino’s men have lost just one of their last 13 games in West London, so they’re big favourites to win on the weekend.
Bournemouth in poor shape
Bournemouth are 12th in the table with 48 points from 37 games. The Cherries are coming off the back of consecutive defeats, losing to Arsenal and Brentford, so they’re not in great shape. Andoni Iraola’s men haven’t been strong away from home either, losing three of their last four, so Chelsea will fancy their chances.
Bournemouth could finish the season in 10th if results go their way, but it won’t be easier getting three points at the Bridge. The Cherries have managed only two away wins since the turn of the year, so they haven’t been good travellers. Bournemouth haven’t kept a clean sheet on the road since December 2023, so Chelsea should back themselves to score.
