Chelsea travel to the City Ground to face Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on Saturday. The Blues lost to Forest in the reverse fixture back in September, so they’ll be desperate for revenge.
Forest are flirting with relegation, so they aren’t having the best campaign, but they’re enough points away from danger. The Reds are coming off the back of a win but have been in poor form since mid-January.
Forest have struggled on home soil too, winning only two games since the turn of the year, so Chelsea will fancy their chances.
Forest in bad shape
Nuno Espírito Santo’s men are 17th in the table with 33 points from 36 games. Forest beat Sheffield United 3-1 in their last outing but had lost three in four before that.
Forest have won just three games in 2024 and their defensive record has fallen apart of late. The Reds have shipped nine goals in their last four games, so it’s unlikely they’ll keep a clean sheet against Chelsea like in their September victory.
Forest haven’t been consistent at the City Gound either. Santo’s men have kept one clean sheet at home since 2023 and have dropped points in four of their last five. With Forest losing 50% of their home games this year, they should be wary of the Blues.
Chelsea in fine form
Forest are vulnerable and Chelsea are in a great position to take advantage. Mauricio Pochettino’s side are 7th in the table with 54 points from 35 games. Chelsea are coming off the back of consecutive wins over Tottenham and West Ham without conceding, so they’re in great shape.
Chelsea have lost only one game since February and have been as formidable on the road. The Blues have lost just one away outing since January, scoring two or more goals in three of their previous four, so they’re unsurprisingly big favourites.
Chelsea could make it three consecutive victories if they come out on top, boosting their hopes of sealing a Europa League place.
