Ryan Bertrand’s Chelsea career appears to be over after he moved the Southampton on yet another loan spell.
A loan spell is definitely not new to Bertrand after having played at SEVEN different clubs on loan from Chelsea, but this could be his final spell at the club. He signed a four-year contract in 2011 and it runs out next summer.
At 24 years of age, it would be fair to expect him to start playing for Chelsea given his experience, but Chelsea boss José Mourinho does not seem to have the England international in his plans.
Chelsea, then, appear to have made up their minds to allow the player leave on a free transfer. It would be surprising to see him sign a new deal after this latest loan move. A Chelsea statement read:
“Ryan Bertrand has today completed a loan move to Southampton until the end of the season. We wish Ryan well for the rest of the season.”
Bertrand recently deleted all Chelsea related pictures from his Instagram page. Despite having made just 56 appearances in all competitions for Chelsea, the left back has three trophies – FA Cup, Champions League, and Europa League – to his name.

Southampton will now develop and encourage the player properly then the big clubs can wee themselves at the end of the season and buy him back an insanely over-inflated price.
