Chelsea have been drawn against Paris St Germain in the quarter-finals of the Champions League 2013/14. The blues have been given the advantage of the second leg being at home. The match will see Zlatan Ibrahimovic once again coming up against English opposition. He has not done particularly well in his previous outings, but the Swedish striker is one of the top scorers this campaign. He has 10 Champions League goals so far.
The first leg will be played on April 2, while the return leg will be on April 8. As far as the Premier League is concerned, an away trip to Crystal Palace precedes the first leg, while a home match against Stoke City precedes the second leg. According to the BBC, Chief executive Ron Gourlay said:
“It’s a massive game. We have a good balance between young and experienced players and, in our eye, the the top coach in the world.
“We have a top quality side but we know we’ll be playing a Paris St-Germain side that has some big individual players.”
PSG went out of the competition at the quarter-final stage last season, and it was at the hands of Barcelona (3-3 on aggregate, but got knocked out on away goals).
PSG are yet to score against Chelsea in two European matches. One of them finished as a draw, while Chelsea won the other.
The full draw is:
Paris St-Germain v Chelsea
Manchester United v Bayern Munich
Barcelona v Atletico Madrid
