Chelsea have reached an agreement with FC Basel for the transfer of Mohamed Salah. The 21-year-old Egyptian winger is not a like-for-like replacement for Mata. He is a winger with explosive pace to burn, as he showed in the two legs against us in the Champions League. He scored in both matches against Chelsea this season.
The club has released a statement saying that they are to agree personal terms with the player. He also has to complete a medical. The statement read:
“Chelsea Football Club can confirm an agreement has been reached with FC Basel for the transfer of their 21-year-old attacking midfielder Mohamed Salah.
“The move is subject to the Egyptian international agreeing personal terms and completing a medical examination.”
At times, he was almost unplayable, but he needs to have more than just raw pace to trouble top-quality defenders. At 21 years of age, he still has a lot of time to develop his game.
Liverpool have also been interested in him for some time. So, hold on your horses because there is still some distance to go before Salah becomes a blue.
