Benoit Badiashile hasn’t had the best season at Chelsea, spending more time on the sidelines than the pitch. The 23-year-old only joined from AS Monaco last year and sees his future at Stamford Bridge already in doubt.
Badiashile has struggled for form, fitness and playing time at Chelsea. If he’s not on the treatment table, the French international has been an unused substitute. And he’s not performed too great when he has featured, so it’s not a shock to see him linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge.
Do Chelsea want to sell Badiashile?

Reports in France from January suggested Olympique Lyonnais were showing an interest, but Fabrizio Romano says Badiashile is staying. He noted there was January interest from overseas, but Chelsea haven’t changed their stance since then.
Romano said on X: “Chelsea are currently not planning for Benoit Badiashile exit in the summer. No plans on Badiashile so far. Chelsea already rejected approaches from Italian clubs for Badiashile last January.”
The French international has made 24 appearances in all competitions for Chelsea, scoring two goals with one assist. Badiashile joined the club midway through last season, so he initially struggled for regular playing time.
He ended his debut campaign with a hamstring injury and began the new season with a groin injury. Badiashile wouldn’t feature in the Premier League until November but became a regular for three months. A groin injury in March set him back, but he’s hoping to finish the season strong.
Chelsea still planning for the future

Chelsea aren’t short of centre-backs with Levi Colwill, Axel Disasi, Wesley Fofana, Trevoh Chalobah, Alfie Gilchrist and Thiago Silva on the books. But injuries have depleted numbers and some players won’t be at the club beyond the summer, so Badiashile is important.
The centre-back was a long-term investment and he’s only a year into his career. Few players have shone in this Chelsea side since the 2022 takeover, so rash decisions won’t be made on their youngsters. Badiashile hasn’t had enough consecutive appearances to show his true worth.
