Joao Felix and Christopher Nkunku shared four goals as Chelsea thrashed FX Noah 8-0 in the UEFA Conference League on Thursday evening. Tosin Adarabioyo, Marc Guiu, Alex Disasi and Mykhailo Mudryk also got on the scoresheet in a comprehensive victory at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea have a 100% record in the Conference League after beating Belgian Pro League outing KAA Gent, Greek Super League side Panathinaikos and now Noah of the Armenian Premier League. They made light work of the latter and ran away with the game in just 18 minutes.
Chelsea enjoyed a perfect first half
Chelsea took the lead in the 12th minute through Adarabioyo, heading home Enzo Fernandez’s corner. And just a minute later, the Blues doubled their advantage.
Guiu capitalised on a defensive error and slotted an effort beyond Ognjen Cancarevic in goal. Axel Disasi made it 3-0 in the 18th minute, heading home from a corner in a similar fashion to Adarabioyo.
The game was over, but Chelsea weren’t taking their foot off the pedal. Felix scored his first of the game minutes later, tucking away a one-on-one after Guii brilliantly dispossessed the defender and Fernandez put him through on goal.
FC Noah managed to weather the storm for nearly 20 minutes but couldn’t hold out. They conceded their fifth of the game after Mudryk curled an effort into the top corner from the edge of the box.
And Chelsea still had time to score a six before half-time, with Felix weaving past a defender and finding the bottom corner.
Morale-boosting win after dip in form
Chelsea slowed down in the second half but still managed to add to the tally through Nkunku in the 69th minute. The Frenchman broke the offside trap and forced a save from Cancarevic, but he put in the rebound from a tight angle.
Minutes later, Nkunku scored his second and Chelsea’s 8th from the penalty spot. Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall was brought down in the area and Nkunku converted.
It was a much-needed win for Chelsea after they lost to Newcastle United and drew with Manchester United.
