Chelsea have given an injury update ahead of their Premier League meeting with Burnley. The Blues welcome the Clarets to Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon and are favourites to win.
Mauricio Pochettino does have a growing injury list, however, so his team will be far from full-strength. Chelsea have nine players currently sidelined, but Trevoh Chalobah could return in time. Malo Gusto is recovering from a virus, so he might be able to feature too.
Chelsea’s official website says Chalobah is ‘in partial team training’. The 24-year-old has spent the campaign out with injury, making just six appearances in all competitions.
Carney Chukwuemeka is ‘undergoing a rehabilitation programme’ after a knock. The 20-year-old had a knee injury this season, then an ankle injury, and he’s now out with an undisclosed problem. Fitness issues has been the line out of the media.
Robert Sanchez is ‘undergoing a rehabilitation programme’ after suffering a setback in his recovery. The 26-year-old picked up a knock in the FA Cup win over Leicester City and isn’t expected to make the Burnley clash.
Levi Colwill is ‘continuing to undergo his rehabilitation programme’ after suffering a toe injury. The 21-year-old could be out for a couple of weeks. Wesley Fofana is ‘continuing to undergo his rehabilitation programme’ and has been out all season.
Reece James is ‘continuing to undergo his rehabilitation programme’ after undergoing surgery on a hamstring injury. The 24-year-old has made just nine appearances in all competitions this season. Romeo Lavia is ‘continuing to undergo his rehabilitation programme’ after being ruled out for the season with a hamstring injury.
Christopher Nkunku is ‘continuing to undergo his rehabilitation programme’ after being ruled out for weeks with a new injury. The 26-year-old has had fitness issues all season, making just 10 appearances, so Chelsea will be dying to have him available. Lesley Ugochukwu is ‘continuing to undergo his rehabilitation programme’ after suffering a hamstring injury months ago. The 20-year-old has made 13 appearances this season, spending more time on the treatment table than the pitch.
Chelsea still have a strong squad to play Burnley, so Pochettino should be confident of getting a result regardless.
