The January transfer window 2013 is only a couple of weeks away and the rumour mills has already started linking players with moves to and from Chelsea.
One of the big names constantly linked with the club in the last few months has been the Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao. The 26-year-old has been in stunning form for the last couple of seasons at FC Porto and Atletico Madrid. Due to the financial troubles at the Spanish club, it is thought that they would be interested in discussing terms with other clubs. He does have a £ 48 million release clause in his contract.
The Daily Mail are reporting today that Chelsea are ready to offer up to £ 200,000 per week for the Colombian. It is certainly an interesting transfer rumour given that Fernando Torres has once again started scoring goals from Chelsea. However, the club cannot certainly rely on the Spaniard alone throughout the rest of the season.
Daniel Sturridge is seemingly on his way out of the club after falling down the pecking order. He has rarely featured for the first team this season. He was linked with a loan move to Liverpool in the final few days of the summer transfer window, but it failed to materialise. Now, though, he is apparently on the verge of a £ 12 million permanent move to the Merseyside. It would be a major loss for Chelsea as he is adept at playing a number of roles.
According to the Guardian, the club has apparently identified the Arsenal winger Theo Walcott as a possible replacement. The 23-year-old winger is out of contract at the end of the season and is available on a cheap. Even though his wage demands at £ 100,000 per week cannot be classified as cheap, he will be a great addition to the team. The only issue might be his desire to play as a striker, which would not be possible at Chelsea with the one-striker formation.
