Chelsea aren’t short right-backs with Malo Gusto, Reece James, Axel Disasi and Trevoh Chalobah, but reports say they’re after another.
According to Camila Sousa of Globo Esporte, Chelsea are one many clubs interested in Pedro Lima.
Who is Lima?
The 17-year-old plays for Sport Recife of the Brazilian second tier and has already made 16 first-team appearances. Lima is a right-back that has caught the eye of Manchester City and Liverpool, so his future looks bright.
City sent their scout Audrio Magalhaes to watch Lima recently, but Chelsea have also had a representative watch him. Sport chief João Marcelo Barros revealed there are even more clubs coming over to see Lima in action.
He said: “There’s nothing very new there. Scouts from all over the world have been watching him. Maybe the news won’t get out, but a lot of scouts have come from abroad this year.”
Lima isn’t afraid to get forward at right-back, leading to him contributed four goals at senior level. The young Brazilian loves to cut inside to supplement the attack, so he’s effective in both boxes. Lima is a technical player with quick feet and a good range of passing.
He’s an aggressive defender too, frequently turning over possession by beating his opponent to the ball. The 17-year-old has a lot of potential and wouldn’t break the bank with a €12m (£10.3m) release clause.
Will Chelsea make a move?

Todd Boehly wasn’t shy after his 2022-takeover of Chelsea, throwing money at any young talent he fancied. The Blues might be reigning things in now to stay in line with Financial Fair Play. Chelsea have a bloated squad thanks to Boehly, and they have a very young team that is struggling in the Premier League.
Chelsea also have enough players who can operate at right-back without signing even more competition. Lima looks a talent and Chelsea are scouting him, but it remains to be seen if they’ll make a move.
