Chelsea welcome Manchester United to Stamford Bridge in the Premier League on Thursday evening. The Blues could move into the top-half with a win while United are trying to consolidate 6th place.
Chelsea haven’t beaten United in any competition since 2020 and haven’t won in the league since 2017. The Blues haven’t lost at home to United in the league since 2020, but they’ve only managed draws.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men should fancy their chances of a result, as they’re in better form than Erik ten Hag’s men. Chelsea have been strong at home while United have been inconsistent away.
Chelsea are formidable at Stamford Bridge
Chelsea are 12th with 40 points from 28 games, winning two and drawing three of their last five league outings. The Blues have lost just once at home in the league since October, winning five of their previous seven.
Pochettino’s side have scored two or more goals in seven of their last eight home outings, so they’re very prolific. Chelsea have taken points off Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City at the Bridge, so United shouldn’t underestimate them.
Chelsea have been disappointing in the league this season, but they have been more consistent in their own backyard.
Man Utd struggling on the road
United are 6th with 48 points from 29 games, suffering two defeats and one draw from their last four outings. Ten Hag’s men have struggled on the road too, losing four and drawing two of their last nine. The Red Devils have been very inconsistent this season, particularly away from home, so they’ll be underdogs at the Bridge.
United have dropped points to Fulham and Brentford of late, so they’re very vulnerable. Ten Hag’s men have dropped points on the road to Newcastle, West Ham and Nottingham Forest recently too. Chelsea will go into Thursday’s clash as the bookies’ favourites, so can they deliver?
