Chelsea were 16th in the Premier League table for goals scored last season (38) and currently sit 14th for goals this campaign (7), so it’s no secret they’ve been struggling in the final third.
The Blues greatly depleted their strikeforce after loaning out Romelu Lukaku, selling Kai Havertz and releasing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, so Nicolas Jackson was signed from Villarreal this summer.
The 22-year-old has had a lukewarm start to life at Stamford Bridge, however, so Chelsea are reportedly considering a January move for Victor Osimhen. Pete O’Rourke of Football Insider says the Napoli striker has an uncertain future with his contract running down.
Chelsea hoping to capitalise on public fallout

Osimhen’s had a big falling out with the club’s social media staff after being disrespected on TikTok, so outlets are suggesting he could be on his way out of the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium. The 23-year-old is one of the most prolific strikers in Europe with 64 goals and 15 assists from 109 games since joining Napoli, so it’s no surprise why Chelsea would be keen.
Osimhen has less than two years remaining on his deal with Gli Azzurri but isn’t close to putting pen to paper on a contract extension, so Napoli might have to cash in early if they can’t tie him down for the long-term. The Nigerian international has played in every game for Napoli this season despite the controversy, so Chelsea might be met with some resistance.
Whether Osimhen wants to leave the Serie A giants for Chelsea remains to be seen too.
Injury crisis sees Chelsea short of attackers

Christopher Nkunku was meant to be Chelsea’s goal-getter this season following his summer move from RB Leipzig, but the 25-year-old is yet to make his debut after picking up a knee injury in August. That leaves Maurico Pochettino with only Armando Broja as cover, but the 22-year-old has just returned from injury.
Napoli were requesting £150m for Osimhen just months ago, so he wouldn’t come cheap. Whether Boehly is willing to smash Chelsea’s transfer budget while he’s on the hunt for investors remains to be seen, however. Osimhen has five goals in eight appearances for a Napoli side that sit third in Serie A, so he might not feel the grass is greener on the other side.
