Turkish striker Burak Yilmaz has been linked with Chelsea for the best part of 12 months. He scored a quite spectacular eight goals in the UEFA Champions League 2012–13 season. Arsenal were also interested in him, but it appeared that Galatasaray were demanding in excess of £15 million for the 28-year-old. This has put off many including Chelsea, but chairman Unal Aysal has opened the possibility of a move to Stamford Bridge in January by saying that he will listen to offers for the striker.
According to Sky Sports, Aysal said,
“If he wants to go and Chelsea are interested then of course, why not?
“No [no offers from Chelsea], not yet.”
Yilmaz is a physical player was like Didier Drogba and Demba Ba, but he is more mobile than both are. He also works incredibly hard and is extremely fast.
The deal breaker, though, is his form this season. Of course, Aysal says that Chelsea have not made any offers so far, but there is a possibility that the rumours might grow given the bucket loads of goals scored by Chelsea strikers in the league ( being sarcastic here in case you haven’t noticed).
Yilmaz key stats 2013/14:
- Appearances – 8
- Goals – 2
- Shots per game – 3
- Pass success – 78.6%
His last goal for the club came in August, while he was dropped for the recent Champions League match against Juventus. He did start in the first group match against Real Madrid, which ended in a 6-1 thrashing for the Turkish giants.
Yilmaz vs Real Madrid 2013:
- Goal attempts: 3
- On target: 0
- Aerial battles: 6
- Aerial battles won: 1
- Pass %: 77
Since Chelsea strikers are yet to score in the Premier League, there will undoubtedly be such rumours. The first half performance of Demba Ba against Norwich and the recent form of Fernando Torres are great positives for the club to build on. Samuel Eto’o is yet to score, but it looks like he will be here only for a season. Then, there is Lukaku waiting on the wings at Everton.
Why should be bothered about an out of form striker?
Ba had a good game against norwich bt am stil worried as they all keep misfiring.they all work hard bt goals seems far away frm 3 of them.I wil stick wit FT9 stil
yes he is a great man 2 watch in future
