Eden Hazard has said that he has no intention of moving to Paris St Germain now and that he wants to stay at Chelsea. Hazard has been linked with PSG since December, but it appears that he has set his sights firmly on becoming a Chelsea great. He has been in the form of his life the last few months.
He stated his desire to stay at Chelsea in a telephonic interview to French tabloid L’Equipe. He said:
“I like to hear that PSG are interested. It flatters me, but I know very clearly what I want and no one will change me. It is my goal to be the best player at Chelsea. As a young boy, I learn every day from seasoned players like Petr Cech, John Terry, Frank Lampard, and Samuel Eto’o.
“They have won many awards in their careers, they are my inspiration. By training with them, I grow as a player. I know that my best years are yet to come.
“In four years, we will assess the progress that I have made with Chelsea and prizes I have won. I want to win.
“I’m on the right track, but I tell myself I still have a lot of things to do in big games. You have to score all the time. Zlatan [Ibrahimovic], Ronaldo and Messi score all the time. I have to work still more to get up to their level.”
PSG defender Thiago Silva recently spoke about welcoming Hazard to the French capital. Chelsea have no reason to sell him at this moment, while Jose Mourinho even hinted recently that the 23-year-old should be valued in excess of £100 million.
This is about the closest Hazard has spoken about the interest from PSG. This interview clearly shows a man, who has his head down and focused on winning things and becoming the best in the world.
He also went on to say:
“I don’t think the Champions League is for us this year, because there are better teams than us. The Premier League, we’ll see. If we play every game like we did at City, we’ll be champions. I’m not going to do anything by myself though. If we manage to win titles, it’ll be thanks to the team.”
He also had words of appreciation for Jose Mourinho. He continued:
“What he has won speaks for itself. Wherever he has gone, he has won trophies. No one had managed to win at Manchester City. There is no competition. That those who still doubted his potential stop. He has already shown he’s the best coach in the world.”
