Chelsea travel to the King Power Stadium to face Leicester City in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon. Chelsea could narrow the gap to second-placed Manchester City with a win while Leicester want to avoid getting sucked into a relegation battle.
Chelsea will be favourites to come out on top in the Midlands as they’re coming off the back of good form in recent weeks. Leicester, however, can’t buy a win of late and have been on the end of some heavy defeats. Chelsea have a one-sided head-to-head record against Leicester too, so the history book suggests an away win.
Leicester in woeful form
Leicester are 15th in the table with 10 points from 11 games this season. The Foxes have the fourth-worst defensive record (21), and only three clubs have lost more games so far.
Leicester haven’t won a match in over a month (3-2 v Southampton on October 19), and they’ve conceded 12 goals in all competitions since then. City have dropped points to Fulham, Crystal Palace, Everton, Nottingham Forest and Ipswich Town, so it’s hard to see them causing Chelsea a problem.
Leicester are coming off the back of three defeats and a draw from their last four across the board, so Chelsea will be licking their lips.
Chelsea flying high
As for the Blues, Enzo Maresca’s men are third in the table with 19 points this campaign. Chelsea are coming off the back of draws against Manchester United and Arsenal while thrashing FC Noah in Europe. They’re in great shape and haven’t fared too badly on the road either.
Chelsea have won four and drawn one of their eight away games this season, so they won’t fear an out-of-form Leicester side. The Blues aren’t thinking about the title, but they could go within one point of second place if results go their way. Chelsea have five wins and one draw from their last six meetings with Leicester, so their weekend clash is expected to go the same way.
