Chelsea travel to Old Trafford to face Manchester United on Sunday afternoon and will fancy their chances of a result given their superior form.
Chelsea come into the weekend clash with only one Premier League defeat since the opening day. United, however, have managed only one league win since mid-September.
Chelsea could go third in the table if they come out on top at Old Trafford. United could move into the top-half with a win.
The Blues beat the Red Devils 4-3 when the two sides met at Stamford Bridge in April, but that’s their only win in this fixture since 2020.
In fact, the history books point to a stalemate on Sunday, as United and Chelsea have drawn five of their last eight head-to-heads.
Man Utd are struggling this season
United are 13th in the table with 11 points from nine games. They are as close to 17th-placed Crystal Palace as they are to 9th-placed Newcastle United. The Red Devils are coming off the back of a 2-1 defeat to West Ham and have dropped points in four of their last five league outings.
United haven’t been much better on home soil either, losing two of their last three league games at Old Trafford. Both Liverpool and Tottenham have beaten them 3-0 in Manchester, so Chelsea will be licking their lips.
United have kept only one clean sheet in all competitions since September, so they will struggle keeping the Blues quiet.
Chelsea are favourites to win
Chelsea are 6th in the table with 17 points from nine games, coming off the back of two wins and a draw in their last four league outings. Enzo Maresca’s men have been strong on the road, boasting three wins from four away games in the league, so they won’t feat United.
Chelsea haven’t beat United at Old Trafford in the league since 2013, however, so Manchester hasn’t been a good omen. They’ll fancy their chances of a result, but time will tell if they can deliver.
