Even after the sale of Mesut Ozil to Arsenal, Real Madrid remain extremely strong in the midfield. The additions of Asier Illarramendi and Isco further strengthened the midfield. This meant that the Ramires to Real Madrid rumours were always going to be met with a funny expression. There were reports about Real looking to make a £15 million offer (which is an absurdly low amount for such a player).
Ramires has now rejected all such rumours and has said that he is happy at Chelsea. According to Sky Sports, he told Globo Esporte,
“Nothing has come to me, I have just heard about this through the press. My agent hasn’t told me anything either. Maybe it is just speculation.
“I am very happy to know that, but neither Chelsea nor my agent have told me anything. It would be a lack of respect to say anything if the club didn’t talk with me.
“I am under contract until 2017 and I don’t want to leave while there isn’t anything happening and I am happy in the team.
“I will only leave if the club want me to. I feel have adapted well.”
Ramires cannot be clearer in his desire to stay at Chelsea, and it is good news for the club. He has been one of the best players under José Mourinho this season.
At the start of the season, it looked like Mourinho was looking to mould Ramires into the next Claude Makelele. In recent matches, though, he has been given the freedom to go forward and help the team in attack.

In 14 appearances, he has four goals and three assists to his name.
Focus can shift towards the next match (Arsenal vs Chelsea) now that a baseless rumour has been put to bed.
