In the summer of 2012, clubs like Manchester United, Manchester City, Real Madrid, and of course, Chelsea fought heavily for the signature of Eden Hazard. It was Chelsea who came up successful in that battle after signing the Belgian star for £32 million and on wages of around £150,000 per week.
Eden Hazard’s former coach at Lille, Rudi Garcia has revealed in his biography titled “All roads lead to Rome” that Roman Abramovich personally made it sure that Hazard was going to join Chelsea. According to Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws, Garcia also said that Abramovich used Didier Drogba to contact Hazard.
In the summer of 2011, Drogba contacted then-Lille midfielder and his international teammate Gervinho and asked him if Eden Hazard was present with him. “Yes, he is,” Gervinho said.
Drogba replied, “Put him on. I have someone with me who wants to talk to him.”
Hazard was brought into the conversation, but the voice at the other end was Abramovich. He said:
“I do not know how much you earn, but I will triple your salary.”
Hazard signed for Chelsea within a year of this incident, but of course, the Champions League victory had a part too.
Abramovich is known to have a personal interest in signing Chelsea’s top players. This is further proof of it. Didier Drogba has played a huge role for Chelsea on the pitch. He has helped us off the pitch too. Thank you, for helping us enjoy the wonderful talent that is Eden Hazard.
That is wat make him a legent in chelsea, not only his goals or champions leaque, thanks to him.
