Ruben Loftus-Cheek, the 27-year-old midfielder currently at Chelsea, is on the verge of completing a move to Milan.
The talented player, whose contract with Chelsea expires next summer, will be making the switch to Serie A as the two clubs have reached an agreement on a transfer fee of approximately £15 million, which could increase with potential add-ons.
Personal terms have already been agreed upon, and Loftus-Cheek is expected to sign a four-year contract with Milan.
Joining him at the Italian club will be his former Chelsea teammate Fikayo Tomori, another product of Chelsea’s academy. Tomori initially joined Milan on loan in January 2021 before making the move permanent.
Loftus-Cheek made his debut for Chelsea in 2014, but it was during his loan spell at Crystal Palace in the 2017-18 season that he truly made his mark in the Premier League.
Impressing at Selhurst Park, Loftus-Cheek returned to Chelsea the following season and had his most prolific goal-scoring campaign, finding the net 10 times across various competitions.
However, his progress was hampered by a severe Achilles injury suffered during a friendly match against the New England Revolution in July 2019. The injury sidelined him for nearly a year.
Following his recovery, Loftus-Cheek spent the 2020-2021 season on loan at Fulham before returning to Chelsea for the subsequent two seasons.
Despite facing multiple injury setbacks, Loftus-Cheek managed to make 33 appearances in all competitions last season, demonstrating his determination and resilience. It is worth noting that Chelsea recently appointed Mauricio Pochettino as their new head coach.
Meanwhile, AC Milan secured a coveted spot in the Champions League for the upcoming season, securing a top-four finish in Serie A with one game remaining. The club faced Chelsea in the group stage of the current season’s Champions League, with Milan losing 2-0 at home and 3-0 in London. Loftus-Cheek made a substitute appearance in the match in Italy and started the reverse fixture.
Throughout his tenure at Chelsea, Loftus-Cheek made a total of 155 appearances across all competitions, scoring 13 goals. He has also represented England on 10 occasions, but has not featured for the national team since 2018.
