Chelsea losing to Brentford for the third consecutive season was terrible, but the Blues have now set an ignominious record after the defeat. Brentford have won more games at Stamford Bridge (2) than Chelsea (1) in the last seven months.
The embarrassing statistic has been making the rounds on social media and highlights how much Chelsea have fallen in the last 18 months. It also shows clubs aren’t scared to play against the Blues in West London.

Who’s to blame for the demise?
Mauricio Pochettino is trying to weather the storm right now, but he isn’t to blame for Chelsea’s problems. Their spiral began under Graham Potter last season.
Tottenham, RB Salzburg, Man Utd, Arsenal, Man City, Fulham, Southampton, Everton, Aston Villa, Liverpool, Brighton, Brentford, Nottingham Forest and Newcastle all managed to get points in West London last season. This campaign, Liverpool, Forest, Villa, Arsenal and Brentford have already taken points away.
It’s worth noting that Saturday’s defeat to Brentford came at a strange time as Chelsea had improved at home of late. The Blues beat Brighton in the EFL Cup while drawing to Arsenal in the league, but it ultimately meant nothing.
- 28/10/23: Chelsea 0-2 Brentford
- 26/4/23: Chelsea 0-2 Brentford
- 19/10/22: Brentford 0-0 Chelsea
- 2/4/22: Chelsea 1-4 Brentford
The Bees have had their number for 18 months, but that’s not to say Poch’s side didn’t have chances on Saturday. Chelsea were punished for all their wasted opportunities in the first-half and learned how unforgiving the league is.
Their next home game is an EFL Cup fourth-round clash with Blackburn Rovers on Wednesday, November 1. Pochettino will be desperate for a response from his players.
